Dr. Béla Munkácsy

Senior lecturer

Béla Munkácsy is a professor of the ELTE University, Department of Environmental and Landscape Geography. He has more than 30 years of experience in teaching environmental education, most recently as the leader for the university specialisation in sustainable energy. His research activity focuses on sustainable energy planning, revealing interconnections between the ecological, technical and social aspects in the context of spatiality.


As for qualification, he is a biology and geography teacher, environmental manager and a habilitated Doctor of Geography. He spent several months in Norway, Germany and Denmark as a research fellow.
He is the president of the Environmental Planning and Education Network and a board member of the European branch of the International Network for Sustainable Energy.
He and his family live in an energy self-sufficient building of their own design.
